54 North started out several years ago when Crauford and Heather decided they wanted to return to their folk roots. 

As a duo, they played various festivals and theatres as well as recording their first album Who Are You?​

 

The name 54 North was chosen as the latitude 54 degrees north is an area of the UK that has important connections for Heather and Crauford.   

 

In 2023, Clare joined 54 North adding extra vocals and instrumentation and creating a new feel to the music.

Quite by chance, Clare also has important connections to the latitude 54 degrees north so the link is there for all of us.  

 

As a 3-piece Celtic Folk Fusion Band, 54 North features 3-part vocal harmonies and a wide range of instruments including cajon, fiddle, synth, guitar, mandolin and Bb cornet.  Our music combines elements of folk, blues and hints of 80s synth to create a sound that represents each of the musicians in the band in both original music and arrangements of traditional folk songs.  ​

Our ceilidh dances go from a 3-piece with Heather acting as caller, Clare moves onto piano and Crauford on fiddle to a larger band and have worked with many amazing musicians and callers
